Drs. Scott Jamieson and Larry Tadlock Receive the 2025 Dale B. Wade Award of Excellence in Orthodontics from the American Board of Orthodontics

The Dale B. Wade award recognizes an exemplary senior clinician and board-certified orthodontist who demonstrates exceptional dedication to orthodontics through clinical excellence and/or devoted teaching.

 

Dr. Scott Jamieson

Scott Allan Jamieson, D.D.S., M.S. of Marquette, Michigan, has received the 2025 Dale B. Wade Award of Excellence in Orthodontics from the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Jamieson is an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee and has been in private practice in Marquette since 1977.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) since 1991, Dr. Jamieson was President of the ABO in 2012-2013 and previously served as a Director from 2005-2010, Secretary-Treasurer in 2010-2011 and President-Elect from 2011-2012. Dr. Jamieson also served ABO as an Examiner from 2014-2020.

During his tenure as an ABO Director, Dr. Jamieson represented the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists (GLAO) and was President of GLAO from 1995-1996. He has served as a GLAO delegate and/or alternate delegate to the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) House of Delegates and has served on the AAO Council on Orthodontic Practice and the AAO Council on Orthodontic Health Care.

Dr. Jamieson is a member of the International College of Dentists, the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association and the Superior District Dental Society, where he served as President from 1983-1984. He has been a Lecturer in Orthodontics at Northwestern University Dental School and has made presentations on Dental and Orthodontic Ethics at 12 universities.

Wade Award of Excellence in Orthodontics from the ABO,” Dr. Jamieson said. “Being selected and recognized as an ABO certified orthodontist dedicated to clinical excellence and devoted to teaching is an honor. It is deeply appreciated to be included in the list of past respected recipients. I thank the ABO for selecting me for this distinguished award."

Dr. Jamieson earned his DDS from the Northwestern University School of Dentistry in 1972. He specialized in orthodontics, graduating with his master’s degree from the Northwestern University School of Dentistry in 1974. He served as a staff orthodontist in the US Navy from 1974 to 1976.

 

Dr. Larry Tadlock

Larry P. Tadlock, D.D.S., M.S. of Ft. Worth, Texas, is the recipient of the 2025 Dale B. Wade Award of Excellence in Orthodontics from the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Tadlock is the Head of the Orthodontic Department and a Clinical Professor at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry. He has been teaching in the Orthodontic Department since 2000. Dr. Tadlock was also in private practice for over 30 years.

Dr. Tadlock is an active member of many professional organizations, including the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), where he served as a Director from 2011 to 2020 and President from 2018 to 2019. He received ABO’s Earl E. and Wilma S. Award of Distinguished Service in 2007-2008. In 2012 and 2013, Dr. Tadlock created instructional videos showing examiners how to use new software for the ABO exams. As an ABO Director, he also helped Dr. Peter Buschang create instructional videos on cephalometric superimpositions.

Dr. Tadlock also served on the Board of Trustees of the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists (SWSO) and was President of the SWSO in 2007-2008. In 2016, he received the Martin Dewey Award – the highest honor SWSO bestows on one of its members. This award recognizes an individual for outstanding contributions to the advancement of orthodontics in education, practice and research.

Dr. Tadlock has lectured nationally and internationally. In 2012-2014 he worked with orthodontic educators at CES Universidad Department of Orthodontics in Medellin, Colombia, to help them establish a board certification process and board exam scoring system.

“I have many colleagues that could have easily been chosen, so it was a shock,” Dr. Tadlock said of receiving the award. “My entire life has been blessed in ways I can’t explain. I also can’t explain how so many great leaders of the profession, icons in the profession were placed directly in my path to guide me. So, for me to be honored with an award named after Dr. Wade is very humbling. Although I never knew Dr. Wade, I have heard from those who knew him that the standard he set for education, his students and clinical practice was very high. I hope I can live up to his standard.”

Dr.  Tadlock received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and his DDS from the College of Dentistry in 1984. He received his MS degree and orthodontic specialty certificate from the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston in 1988.
